About:
uBriGene Biosciences provides integrated CDMO services to companies developing cell & gene therapy products for research and clinical applications.  Our CDMO teams in the US and China offer a robust portfolio of R&D and GMP manufacturing platforms. These include platforms for the manufacture of plasmid, viral vectors, autologous cell therapies, allogeneic cell therapies, mRNA and circRNA, gene editing assets (sgRNA, nucleases, RNP formulation), and LNP encapsulation of therapeutic payloads.  uBriGene today is working with some of the leading therapeutic developers in areas such as CAR-T and CAR-NK cell therapies, and AAV, Lentiviral, and Oncolytic viral gene therapies.  uBriGene has also built and recently launched a vertically integrated gene editing platform to accelerate the development and clinical impact of genome engineering therapeutics.

Job Summary:
This role is primarily focused on advancing the business development initiatives for uBriGene BioSciences in Western North America, encompassing all manufacturing platforms.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Build credible, impactful relationships with both external and internal clients to identify, develop, and close CRO and CDMO service opportunities.
  • Relentlessly hunt, build, and close business opportunities – taking ownership for researching, identifying, and cultivating clinical and commercial development and manufacturing business opportunities within the Western US.  You may also be asked to contribute to business development in other geographies, as needed.  Lead sources may include, but are not limited to, personal network, conference leads, cold calling, social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, …), inbound leads, and email campaigns and webinar events coordinated by the uBriGene marketing team.
  • Own the client relationships within the assigned Western US territory, serving as the key bridge between the client and internal uBriGene technical support/program-writing, operations, and project management teams.  You must always seek to understand and tactfully communicate client needs to your internal colleagues, while effectively managing client expectations throughout the sales and project execution process. 
  • Drive year-over-year growth by expanding business within established accounts and penetrating new accounts.


 
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date intel on accounts, leads, and deals within uBriGene’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform (currently utilizing Zoho). Contribute valuable updates during weekly/biweekly sales pipeline calls.
  • Commit to life-long learning – passionate about expanding your knowledge of manufacturing technologies, CGT development and manufacturing industry trends, and understanding the motivations and needs of key Western US accounts and KDMs within those accounts.  The overarching goal of becoming more knowledgeable must always be to both sustain current business and find new opportunities to grow business (in established accounts and new accounts).
  • Serve as an uBriGene ambassador at trade shows and conferences.  Maintain memberships in, and actively contribute to, those industry organizations which could serve as a BD channel for uBriGene Biosciences business growth.
  • Contribute to furthering business excellence - Effectively disseminate learnings from the field into valuable feedback which benefits uBriGene commercial, operations, quality, and executive leadership teams.
  • Mentor less-experienced colleagues as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in cell biology, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field.  Masters or PhD degree preferred.
  • Experience:  At least 10 years of life sciences industry work experience, with a proven track record of business development success (preferably in the CRO/CDMO sector).
  • Results-oriented:  Proven ability to meet and exceed business development targets and objectives
  • Industry Knowledge:  Deep understanding of the CGT industry, including understanding of technologies, industry trends, and CRO/CDMO competitive intelligence.
  • Communication Skills:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and influence stakeholders
  • Strategic Thinking:  Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to put strategies into action.
  • Negotiation Skills:  Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Network:  Extensive network of industry contacts
  • Adaptability:  Ability to adapt to changing business environments to drive business success
